The incident took place around 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31 in New Rochelle, on Maywood Road, when a tree fell on top of the girl, trapping her beneath, said New Rochelle Police Capt. Cosmo Costa.
Responding New Rochelle officers found the girl had already been pulled from beneath the large tree by a nearby resident who heard the crash from inside his residence, Costa said.
The young girl sustained multiple fractures and was transported to an area hospital.
At the time of the incident, the wind speed was estimated to be around 25 miles per hour with some gusts of more than 50 mph.
